THE RENDEZ-VOUS WITH FRENCH CINEMA at Lincoln Center March 5-15 2026

Co-presented with Unifrance, the 31st edition of Rendez-Vous with French Cinema "demonstrates that the landscape of French cinema is as fertile, inspiring, and distinct as ever," says the Lincoln Center blurb. One had no reason the think otherwise, though French cinema may not have the prestige for American filmgoers as it did in earlier decades. I'm reviewing five of the offerings, which also include Ozon's adaptation of Camus' The Stranger, a new film by the "audacious" Julia Ducournau, Dominik Moll's new police procedural Case 137 (which I reviewed earlier), a period film by Cédric Klapisch Colors of Time/La Venue de l’avenir , and, the Director's Fortnight opener at Cannes, a final collaboration between Robin Campillo and the late Laurent Cantet, Enzo, among others.

My reviews will be:
AT WORK/A PIED DE L'OEUVRE (Valerie Donzelli 2025)
LOVE ME TENDER (Anna Cazenave Cambet 2025)
METEORS (Hubert Charuel, Claude Le Pape 2025)
NINO (Pauline Loquès 2024)
WRITING LIFE: ANNIE ERNAUX THROUGH THE EYES OF HIGHSCHOOL STUDENTS (Claire Simon 2025)
